The Louisville pair will play in the East Lansing Regional, hosted by Michigan State
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Carmen Griffiths and Hana Ryskova of the University of Louisville women's golf team were selected to participate in the 2024 NCAA Regional Championships as individuals, the NCAA announced on the Selection Show Wednesday afternoon. The Louisville pair will compete in the East Lansing Regional which takes place on May 6-8 at the Forest Akers Golf Course in East Lansing, Michigan.
This will be the second-straight season Griffiths has advanced to the NCAA Regional as an individual and her third overall appearance at NCAA's. Last season, she placed 62nd overall at the Westfield Regional. In 2022, the Cardinals hosted a regional and she finished tied for 37th overall. This will be Ryskova's second overall appearance as she was part of the Louisville team in 2022. She tallied a top-20 finish as she was tied for 16th overall in the Louisville Regional.
Griffiths has played in nine of the 10 tournaments this season for the Cards as she missed the final fall tournament competing overseas in Abu Dhabi. She leads the team with two top-10 finishes and four top-15 finishes on the season. She carded six rounds in the 60s, a mark that also leads the team. She is tied for the team lead with 14 rounds at par or better this year. Both of her top-10 finishes have come this spring as she was tied for ninth at the Collegiate Invitational in February and then tied for 8th at the Clemson Invitational in March.
Ryskova has played in all 10 tournaments for the Cardinals this season and is second on the team with one top-10 finish and three top-15 finishes. She has the highest finish of any Louisville golfer this season when she finished third at the Boilermaker Classic. She has 14 rounds at par or better this season which is tied for the team lead. Her four rounds in the 60's is second on the squad. She carded a 67 in the first round of the Windy City Collegiate, the lowest round by a Louisville player this season.
Each of the six NCAA regional sites feature 12 teams and six individuals. Thirty teams will advance to the championship in Carlsbad — five from each of the six regional sites. 156 players will advance to the championship, with the top five teams and top individual (not on an advancing team) advancing from each regional. The finals are May 17-22 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
