Cardinals in Ninth After First Round of Tar Heel Invitational

Bailey Burkett is tied for ninth overall after an even-par 70
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The Louisville women's golf team is in ninth place after the opening round of the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational Friday afternoon from Finley Golf Club. The Cardinals as a team shot 9-over-par 289 in the first and had one player within the Top 10 of the individual leaderboard after the opening 18 holes of the tournament.
Sophomore Bailey Burkett led the way for the Cardinals on Friday as she shot an even-par 70 for the first round. She had a team-best five birdies on the round and is tied for ninth overall.
Freshman Emree Cameron was right behind Burkett as she finished the first round with a 1-over-par 73. Cameron had three birdies for her round and is just outside the Top 20 as she is tied for 21st overall.
Sophomore Veronika Exposito is tied for 37th overall after a 3-over-par 73 on Friday. Junior Millie Cottrell rounds out the scoring for the Cardinals as she is tied for 51st overall after a 5-over-par 75 in the first round. Freshman Madison Moman had to withdraw due to injury during the first round of play.
Round 2 will be underway on Saturday as the Cardinals get back on the course for the next 18 holes of the tournament. Fans can follow the live stats here or can follow our social media channels for updates throughout the round.
