Cards Off to Strong Start at SIRA Championship

Cards send all four boats to SIRA Championship Finals
OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – The University of Louisville rowing team turned in a strong showing with all four boats advancing to the A finals to close out day one of the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship Saturday at Melton Hill Lake.

The novice four boat will get the action started on Sunday at 9:46 a.m. with the second varsity 8 race following at 10:56 a.m. and the varsity 8 finals wrapping up the action at 12:42 p.m. Â Fans can follow the results here.

In Saturday's varsity eight morning time trial, Louisville led all boats with a time of 5:48.764 with Izzy Hussey coxing Lexi Bernard, Claire Carver-Ritter, Evey Peplowski, Kaylie Leonard, Macy Whisenand, Payton Stinson, Madeline Giron and Isabella Ulloa. The V8 boat went on to finish first in the afternoon semifinal heats with a time of 6:39.977. Â
The second varsity eight Cardinals led the way in their morning time trial at 6:02.403. Guided by Mackenna Billington, Graycen West, Cierra Chavez, Taylor Fausey, Alaina Holder, Bradlie Hicks, Mary Noschang, Emma Bell and Gabrielle Zanoni finished five seconds ahead of Jacksonville. The Louisville varsity 8B boat turned in a time of 6:20.657 for a fifth-place showing in the field of 11.

In the afternoon session, the 2V8 boat stroked a time of 6:02.403 to place first with the 2V8 B boat finished with a time of 6:20.657, good for fifth..

The novice four boat posted a fourth-place finish in the morning session with a time of 7:06.244.
