Women’s Golf Travels to Augusta for Valspar Augusta Invitational
March 07, 2024 | Women's Golf
The tournament will begin a day early on Friday due to impending weather on Saturday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Louisville women's golf team is heading back on the road this weekend as they head to the Peach State for the Valspar Augusta Invitational. Hosted by Augusta University, the tournament will be held at the par-72, 6,261-yard Forest Hills Golf Course in Augusta, Ga.
The Tournament was set to begin on Saturday but has been pushed up a day to Friday due to impending inclement weather forecasted for Saturday. They will play as many holes as they can on Friday and then conclude the three-round tournament on Sunday.
The Cardinals are coming off their home tournament back on February 17-20. The Moon Golf Invitational also had bad weather affect its schedule and they started a day early as well. Louisville shot really well in the opening round and then ended up seventh out of 17 teams overall.
Hana Ryskova paced the Cards as she finished tied for 12th overall as she was even-par, 216 at the end of the tournament. It was her third Top-15 finish of the season and the third time she was the top finisher for the Cards.
Carmen Griffiths was one shot behind Ryskova and was tied for 17th overall at 1-over-par, 217. Griffiths tied a season-low with a 4-under-par 68 in the final round of Moon Golf.
In Augusta this weekend, Rylee Suttor, Beatriz Barrios and Gabbi Bentancourt will round out the lineup for the Cards. Suttor finished tied for 39th, Bentancourt was tied for 62nd and Barrios was tied for 75th at Moon Golf a few weeks ago.
