The ACC Doubles Team of the Week also moved into the Top-10 in the ITA Men’s Doubles Rankings
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – As they move up to #9 in the ITA Men's Doubles Rankings, UofL men's tennis junior Natan Rodrigues and fifth-year senior Etienne Donnet were named ACC Men's Doubles Team of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Cardinal duo moved to 9-2 on the spring season, 12-3 on the year, after going an undefeated 3-0 over the weekend.
On Friday night, Rodrigues and Donnet defeated the then-#14 duo in the nation, Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc and Joshua Dous-Karpsenschif of Florida State, 6-3. On Sunday, they beat then-#27 Adrien Burdet and Vladislav Melnic of Miami 6-1 before winning their final match of the weekend 6-4 over a pair from EKU.
Rodrigues and Donnet are a perfect 4-0 against nationally ranked duos, picking up two of those wins in this stretch. The two victories also moved the pair to a perfect 2-0 in conference play.
The honor is the tandem's second award this season as they also earned Doubles Team of the Week on February 13. Overall, it's the fourth weekly award for UofL this season.
Louisville is now #29 in the new ITA Team Rankings. Donnet moved up to #33 as a singles player and his teammate Will Mayew moved to #76. The Cardinals hit the road for the first time in nine matches as they travel to Middle Tennessee for a 2 p.m. ET match on Sunday afternoon in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
