Claycomb One Shot Off the Lead at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Cooper Claycomb of the University of Louisville men's golf team enters the final round of play in a three-way tie for second place after shooting 70 on Sunday during the second round of the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational at the Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. Claycomb is one shot behind Adam Wallin of Ohio State and his brother, Canon Claycomb of Alabama, who are both at 4-under-par.

As a team, the Cardinals remain in fifth place after shooting an 8-over-par 296 on Sunday. Louisville is 15-over-par after two rounds, sitting 19 shots behind North Carolina, which enters the final round at 4-under-par – three shots ahead of second place Alabama and Ohio State. Virginia is in fourth place at 7-over-par.

Claycomb is tied for second place after recording four birdies on Sunday to have a chance at his first career victory. He birdied one hole on the front nine and added three more on his back nine to move into the top two.

After shooting a 75 on Saturday, senior Max Kennedy responded with a 1-under-par 71 to move up into a tie for 18^th place heading into the final round. He recorded three birdies on his day and ended his round with an eagle on No. 18.

Playing as an individual, Mads Roddik shot a 2-over-par 74 to move into a tie for 37^th place. Sebastian Moss is tied for 42^nd after carding a 4-over-par 76, while Easton Johnson dropped into a tie for 53^rd after firing a 7-over-par 79.

Clay Pendergrass fell to 78^th after shooting 85 on Sunday.

The final round begins at the Sawgrass Country Club begins Monday morning at 8 a.m.
