Max Kennedy Posts Top-10 Finish at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Max Kennedy of the University of Louisville men's golf team fired a final round 70 to finish in a tie for sixth place at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational Monday at the Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
Collectively, the Cardinals finished in sixth place, one shot back of fifth-place Duke, after shooting 19-over-par (295-296-292=883.
Entering the final round at 15-over-par, the Cards closed the final day with round of 4-over-par. North Carolina, the nation's top-ranked team, won the tournament at 4-under-par. Alabama was second, while Virginia and Ohio State closed the tournament in third and fourth place, respectively.
Kennedy posted his third top-10 finish of the season and the 12th of his career after carding rounds of 71-75-70=216 to end the tournament at even-par. Beginning the final round in a tie for 18th place, Kennedy raced up the leaderboard with a 70 on Monday. He recorded three birdies on the day and nearly played a flawless round until he recorded his first bogey on No. 17.
Cooper Claycomb was in contention on the final day but fired a final round 76 to finish in a tie for 11th place. Beginning play one shot off the lead, Claycomb registered four birdies but couldn't overcome five bogeys and two double bogeys.
Sebastian Moss finished in a tie for 35th place after ending the day with a 1-over-par 73 to finish with an 8-over-par 224. Easton Johnson closed in a tie for 50th place at 10-over-par and Clay Pendergrass was tied for 73rd after shooting 237. Mads Roddik tied for 62nd place after shooting 81 on Monday.
The Cardinals return to action on March 18-20 at the General Hackler Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
