Lacrosse Begins 2024 Season With a Pair of Games in Colorado

Louisville will travel to No. 4 Denver and Colorado in their opening weekend
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's lacrosse team will open up their 2024 season with a pair of games in Colorado. They will face No. 4 Denver on Friday, Feb. 9 at 5 p.m. ET and Colorado on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. ET.
This marks the third consecutive season that the Cards have opened with back-to-back games against Colorado and Denver. It's the fifth consecutive season that Louisville will have played at least one of those teams in its first two games of the season
Louisville opened up their 2023 season against Denver, falling 4-5 but upset No. 25 Colorado, 12-5 in game two of the season. The Cardinals are 10-6 all-time in season openers and 2-4 under Head Coach Scott Teeter.
Louisville returns 30 total players from the 2023 roster. Five are returning for their graduate year. Leading scorer, Nicole Perroni, returns for her fifth year in the red and black on a 36-game goal-scoring streak, the longest in program history. Madi McKee and Allegra Catalano are also returning for their fifth year at the attack position. McKee played in all 17 games last season, leading the team in draw controls with 76. Despite missing three games due to injury, Catalano recorded 14 goals, 12 points and 35 shots. Sydney Kirchenheiter appeared in all 17 games as well, recording eight ground balls and three caused turnovers. Ashley Osborne played and started in six games last season before suffering a season-ending injury. She finished the season with eight ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Louisville will face eight opponents that are ranked in the Top 25 of the IWLCA Preseason Poll (No. 2 Boston College, No. 3 North Carolina, No. 4 Denver, No. 5 Syracuse, No. 7 Notre Dame, No. 16 Virginia, No. 23 Clemson, No. 24 Duke, RV Marquette). The ACC leads the way for the most teams in the top 25 with seven teams.
