
Five Cardinals Chosen for the US National Team Open Program,

DeBeer, Kong, Glock, Sherman, and Robins head to Colorado Springs
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- University of Louisville volleyball players Anna DeBeer, Phekran Kong, Elle Glock, Hannah Sherman, and Reese Robins have been invited to participate in the 2024 USA Volleyball Women's National Team Open Program, scheduled for Feb. 23-25 at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
UofL associate head coach Dan Meske, the 2022 National Assistant Coach of the Year, will also be on hand on the coaching staff during the open program.
DeBeer was the ACC Player of the Year and an AVCA Second Team All-American for the Cardinals this year. Glock was an All-East Region selection and a five time ACC Setter of the Week, as well as being voted to the All-ACC Second Team. Kong was voted AVCA All-East Region and was named to the NCAA All-Region Team. Sherman, a middle blocker, and  Robins, an opposite were valuable underclassmen, who both provided sparks off the bench for the No. 6-ranked Cardinals.
"The Open Program is an excellent opportunity for our Women's National Team staff to observe USA Volleyball hopefuls under one roof." said U.S. Women's National Team Head Coach Karch Kiraly. "This country is filled with young volleyball talent. For our Women's National Team to sustain competitive excellence, our WNT staff must be dialed in to the growing potential throughout our National Team Development Program as well as top NCAA student-athletes."
More than 45 top volleyball coaches will also be at the Training Center to help run the program and evaluate the athletes. They will join U.S. Women's National Team staff including Head Coach Karch Kiraly, Assistant Coach Tama Miyashiro, Assistant Coach Erin Virtue (head coach at Michigan), Assistant Coach Alfee Reft (head coach at UCLA) and Performance Analyst Rianne Verhoek. U.S. Men's National Team Performance Analyst Nate Ngo will also work at the program.
Jordan Larson, gold medalist and MVP from the 2020 U.S. Olympic Women's Team, will speak to the athletes. Representatives from all three U.S. women's pro volleyball leagues will also be on hand.
