Seven Cardinals slated to compete in regionals beginning on Thursday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – UofL men's tennis returns from a near month hiatus to play in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships, hosted by Purdue, beginning on Thursday. The tournament runs through Monday, October 14.
The Regional Championship is now part of the new NCAA Division I pilot program that leads into the Individual NCAA Championships in late November. Out of each regional across the country, the two singles finalists and the doubles champion will automatically qualify for their respective individual NCAA championships.
Louisville is slated to bring seven individuals to compete in the Regional Championships, some competing in both singles and doubles during the event.
In their last trip out, the Cardinals dominated their opening weekend in the Louisville Invitational, racking up 16 singles and seven doubles victories over the three days.
UofL has a solid history at the ITA Regionals, winning the doubles and singles championship when the Cardinals hosted in 2022.
