This is the fifth-straight ranked opponent for the Cardinals
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville women's soccer team continues its four-game homestand and another ranked opponent is up next. The Cardinals are set to welcome another ACC newcomer in No. 25 Cal Golden Bears on Sunday afternoon from Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium. The Cardinals and Golden Bears are set to square off at 12 p.m. ET and it will be aired nationally on the ACC Network.
The Golden Bears are the fifth-straight ranked opponent the Cardinals are facing, dating back to the Oct. 3 match against No. 3 North Carolina. Cal is the third ranked opponent the Cardinals will face at home this year. Louisville drew with No. 13 Notre Dame and dropped their most recent match against No. 6 Stanford, 1-0, this past Thursday.
The Cards have had a lot of success at home this season as they are 5-2-2 at Lynn Stadium. The Cardinals defense has done very well at home as they have only allowed two goals over the last six home games. The most goals they have allowed in a home game this year is one and they have five clean sheets, all at home this year.
In the most recent match against Stanford, the Cardinal goal in the 90th minute snapped a 355-minute scoreless streak at home. Prior to the goal by Stanford, Louisville had not allowed a goal at home since the fourth minute of the match against Dayton on Sept. 8, a span of four matches.
Following Sunday's match, the Cardinals have their final home game of the regular season the following week. The Cardinals are set to host Boston College on Thursday, October 24, to conclude the four-game homestand. It will be senior night for the Cardinals and they are set to honor Brooke Dardano, Amber Jackson, Ava Nielsen and Jolie St. Louis prior to Thursday's match.
