Claycomb Shoots Final Round 65 to Pace Cards at the Sea Best Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Cooper Claycomb carded a personal best 5-under-par to lead the University of Louisville men's golf team to a third-place finish at the Sea Best Invitational Tuesday at the TPC at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
The Cardinals closed the tournament Tuesday by shooting a 4-over-par 284 to finish 16 shots behind the Florida, which won the tournament by three shots over second-place North Florida. UofL finished the two-day event at 18-over-par after carding rounds of 291-283-284=858.
Claycomb posted his best round of 65 to jump into a tie for seventh place with teammate Max Kennedy. Claycomb birdied three holes on each side during the final round to tie Kennedy for the team's best round over the two-day event.
Kennedy, who also shot a 65 during the second round on Monday, followed up with a 71 on Tuesday to drop into seventh place. Kennedy finished the tournament by shooting 75-65-71=211.
Entering the day in 30th place, Sebastian Moss moved up to 27th after carding a final round of 75. He closed play by shooting 72-70-75=217.
Clay Pendergrass finished in a tie for 48th after he rounds of 73-76-73=222, while Easton Johnson finished in a tie for 61st after shooting 75-73-76=224.
The Cardinals return to action on Feb. 19-21 at the difficult Prestige Invitational, hosted by Stanford.
