Cards Set to Host Eastern Kentucky in Fall Doubleheader Sunday

Cards and Colonels slated to play a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. at Ulmer Stadium
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville softball team will continue its fall season Sunday when the Cardinals play host to Eastern Kentucky in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. at Ulmer Stadium. The event is open to the public and admission is free.

In the first weekend of the fall season, the Cardinals traveled to Columbus, Ohio where the split a doubleheader with Ohio State, taking the first game and the Buckeyes prevailing in the second. On the day, nine players registered hits with Vanessa Miller cranking out a pair of home runs and Daisy Hess connecting on a double. Six pitchers saw time in the circle with Alyssa Zabala's six strikeouts leading the way.

Scouting the Colonels
• Eastern Kentucky is coming off a 28-24 record which included a 10-14 record in Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) play.
• Louisville and EKU have seen each other many times with the Cards holding an 8-4 record over The Colonels. The last matchup was on March 21, 2023 and saw the Cards rolling to a 10-1 win in Richmond.
• Some of EKU's key returners include Vianna Barron and Maggie Pertee who received ASUN postseason honors last year.

Following Sunday's action, the Cardinals will go back on the road for a doubleheader at Indiana on October 13.

About Louisville Softball
The University of Louisville softball team posted a 36-20 overall record and a 16-7 ACC mark in the 2023 season. UofL's 16 ACC wins were also tied for the most in since joining the league in 2015. The Cardinals return 11 letterwinners from last year's squad including all-ACC selections Daisy Hess, Easton Lotus and Alyssa Zabala. Louisville also welcomes 11 newcomers including six freshmen and five transfers to the 2024 roster.
