
Cards Place Seven on All-ACC Academic Men’s Tennis Team

Donnet, Fung, Hernandez, Mizrahi, Rodrigues, Salle and Wesbrooks earn the conference academic honor
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Louisville men's tennis team placed seven student-athletes o the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Men's Tennis Team as announced by the league today. Etienne Donnet, Matthew Fung, Sergio Hernandez, David Mizrahi, Natan Rodrigues, Fabien Salle and Alex Wesbrooks represent the Cardinals on the academic list.
Academic requirements for selection to the team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. In addition, student-athletes must have competed in 50 percent of their team's contests.
Donnet (Lyon, France) takes home his second straight All-ACC Academic Team nod. The sport administration major recently completed an impressive senior campaign in which he posted a 26-9 overall record in singles and a team-best 19-5 mark in dual matches playing mostly at No. 2. He also earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Singles Championship and was ranked as high as 24th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings in singles.
Fung (Miami, Fla.), registered a 19-6 overall record in doubles with an 11-4 mark in dual matches and tallied 11 singles victories during his junior senior. The business administration major was nationally-ranked in both singles and doubles.
Hernandez (Medellin, Colombia) earns his third straight academic team selection and is a three-time all-ACC Academic Honor Holl member. The sport administration major compiled an 18-13 overall record and tallied a 22-7 overall doubles mark and appeared in the ITA doubles rankings in his final collegiate season.
Mizrahi a graduate senior from Brooklyn, N.Y., picks up his second All-ACC Academic Team honor. The three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll member was pursuing his MBA during the 2023 campaign and registered a 16-14 overall record in singles. He also posted 15 doubles wins and appeared in the ITA doubles rankings
Rodrigues (Salvador Bahia, Brazil) earned All-America recognition in doubles after reaching the quarterfinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship and finishing the season ranked ninth nationally. The sport administration major and all-ACC doubles selection tallied a 33-8 overall doubles record and a 19-13 mark in singles with 9-9 in dual match record playing primarily at No. 1. He reached his highest national singles ranking at No. 25.
Salle (Thonon-les-Bains, France) takes home his second ACC Academic Team nod and is a two-time ACC Academic Honor Roll member. While pursuing his master's degree in business analytics, Salle finished his collegiate career as an All-American in doubles after teaming with Rodrigues to advance to the NCAA quarterfinals. He also earned all-ACC honors in singles and doubles and finished the 2023 campaign with a 28-10 overall singles record (16-6 dual matches) and a 31-12 tally in doubles. He was ranked as high as No. 26 nationally in singles and finished the season ranked ninth in doubles with Rodrigues.
Wesbrooks is completing his master's degree in business analytics and is a four-time ACC Academic Honor Roll selection and 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree. The Louisville, Ky., native registered 10 doubles wins despite battling a late-season injury.
Louisville Men's Tennis
The 34th-ranked Cardinals finished the 2023 season with a 17-12 overall record and earned their second straight at-large berth and 14th overall appearance in the NCAA tournament. After defeating Texas Tech in the first round, Louisville advanced to NCAA Regional Final for the first time since 2017.
The 2023 campaign marked the third time in program history that the Cardinals earned NCAA tournament bids as a team as well as singles and doubles and the first since 2011.
