
Cards Travel to Columbus to Face Texas Tech in NCAA First Round

Louisville earns second-straight and 14th overall bid to the NCAA tournament
The University of Louisville men's tennis team will travel to Columbus, Ohio to face Texas Tech in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Championship on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Ohio State's Auer Tennis Complex. The winner between Louisville and Texas Tech will advance to Sunday's 12 p.m. regional final to face the winner of the other first-round match between East Tennessee State and host third-seeded Ohio State.

"I am so excited for the team to return to the NCAA tournament for the second straight year," said UofL head coach Rodrigo da Silva. "The guys have put in the work all year and really battled through a lot of competitive matches against quality teams. We look forward to continuing our season this weekend as we prepare to take on yet another tough opponent in Texas Tech."

LOUISVILLE NOTES
• Louisville enters the NCAA postseason as the No. 3 seed in the Columbus Region after compiling a 16-11 overall record and finishing the regular season with a 6-6 mark in ACC play.
• The Cardinals earned the No. 7 seed in the 2023 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships and defeated 10th-seeded Notre Dame 4-3 in the second round before falling to eventual runner-up Duke in quarterfinals.
• UofL stands at No. 34 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association national rankings released on April 25.
• Head coach Rodrigo da Silva is in his fourth season with the Cards and now holds a 52-36 record with the program, while registering a 140-118 overall career record. Last season, he guided the Cardinals to a 19-8 record and their first-ever ACC semifinal appearance. In 2022, UofL also earned an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2017.
• This will be the third time the Cardinals have traveled to Columbus for the NCAA tournament. Louisville also went there in 2017, defeating UCF 4-3 in the first round before falling 4-0 to Ohio State in the final. Prior to that, the Cardinals traveled to the Columbus regional in 2014 and lost to Wake Forest 4-1 in the first round.
• Louisville is one of seven ACC teams selected for the 2023 NCAA tournament. The Cardinals join ACC champion and No. 7 seed Virginia, No. 12 Duke, No. 16 North Carolina, Florida State, NC State and Wake Forest in the 64-team field.
