Louisville Travels to No. 16/16 Kentucky for Midweek Matchup

Cards will kick off a four-game road swing with a midweek game at Kentucky
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville softball team will travel to Lexington, Ky., to face in-state rival No. 16/16 Kentucky on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in an ESPNU-televised matchup.

• Louisville is batting .323 as a team with five players hitting above .300 and two players batting over .400.
• The Cardinals stand second in the ACC and 11h in the nation with a .420 team on-base percentage.

Head coach Holly Aprile is entering her fifth season as UofL's head coach. During her time at the helm – which includes the COVID-19 impacted 2020 season, Aprile guided the Cardinals to 112 wins and an NCAA regional final appearance in 2019.
• Prior to her arrival at Louisville, Aprile, the 2018 ACC Coach of the Year spent 10 seasons (2009-18) as Pittsburgh's head coach and five years (2004-08) as an assistant. In 2018, she earned ACC Coach of the Year honors after leading the Panthers to the 2018 ACC Coastal Division title and a runner-up finish in the ACC tournament.

Scouting the Wildcats: Kentucky enters the weekend with a 20-7-1 overall record following a weekend series against No. 24 Texas A&M in which the Wildcats lost the first two games 14-13 and 10-0 before winning the series finale 10-2.
• The Wildcats are led offensively by Vanessa Nesby who carries a .470 batting average. Erin Coffel has belted out a team-high 12 home runs and 35 RBIs. Kayla Kowalik stands second on the team with a .443 batting average and leads the way with 31 runs and 10 stolen bases.
