Cardinals Fall Short Against No. 8 NC State

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 7-0 to No. 8 NC State Sunday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
The Cardinals (8-10, 0-8 ACC) dropped the doubles point after NC State earned victories on all three courts. The duo of Sophie Abrams and Abigail Rencheli on court two defeated Jamilah Snells and Cici Xin 6-2. The Cardinals pair of Andrea DiPalma and Rhea Verma battled against Diana Shnaider and Nell Miller before falling 4-6. Sasha Gorchanyuk and Maria Campos fell 4-6 in a back and forth battle against Anna Zyryanova and Gina Dittmann.
The Wolfpack (14-2, 6-1 ACC) ran through the singles matches with the clinch coming from Gina Dittmann downing UofL sophomore Tyra Richardson 6-0, 6-1. Xin fought hard to extend her match, taking the second set into a tiebreak where she eventually fell 6-2, 7-6 (12-10).
UofL travels to South Bend, Ind. to take on No. 27 Notre Dame on Friday at 3:30 p.m. ET for their lone match of the weekend.
