Cards Travel to No. 22 Notre Dame for Lone Matchup

Louisville hits the road for ACC matchup
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team travels to Indiana this weekend to face Atlantic Coast Conference foe No. 22 Notre Dame on Friday at 3:30 p.m. ET at the Eck Tennis Pavilion.

The Cardinals (8-10, 0-8 ACC) lost to two ranked opponents this weekend, falling to 5-2 to No. 25 Wake Forest and 7-0 to No. 8 NC State. The Demon Deacons took the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. The duo of Jamilah Snells and Cici Xin defeated the three pair from Wake Forest 6-1. In singles, Maria Campos evened the match score with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Mia Ahmad at No. 6 singles. Andrea Di Palma took down No. 41-ranked Casie Wooten 7-6 (7-1), 7-5 to earn the Cards their second point. Against NC State, the Cards dropped the doubles point after NC State earned victories on all three courts. Xin fought hard to extend her match at No. 5 singles and took the match to a second set tiebreak where she eventually fell 6-2, 7-6 (12-10).

Notre Dame (12-7, 3-5 ACC) split the weekend after falling 5-2 to No. 8 NC State and winning 7-0 to No. 25 Wake Forest. Against NC State, Julia Andreach won the first point for the Irish with a straight-set victory 6-3, 7-6 (7-5). Akari Matsuno notched the other Irish point, earning a 7-5 (8-6), 3-6, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles. Notre Dame won all three matchups in doubles against Wake Forest and swept singles in straight sets. Yashna Yellayi closed the shutout with a 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-3) win at No. 4. Andreach knocked off her second ranked opponent of the weekend and No. 59 Page Freeman earned a ranked victory of Wooten from Wake Forest.
