Petrashov Heads to Finals After Day 3 at NCAA Championships

MINNEAPOLIS -- After Friday's preliminaries, the University of Louisville will send Denis Petrashov to the championship finals of the 100 breaststroke at the 2023 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis.
UofL will also swim the 400 Medley Relay tonight where the Cardinals are seeded 11th.
In the 100 breaststroke, Denis Petrashov made the championship final with a time of 51.12, dropping .14 from his entry time. He will battle top seed Max McHugh from Minnesota, who posted a 50.26.
In the 400 IM, Tommy Bried went 3:46.00 in his heat. The top seed going into this evening is Leon Marchand of Arizona State, who went 3:34.47.
In the 100 butterfly, Dalton Lowe boarded a time of 45.38 to finish 20th. Tonight's leader going into finals is Florida's Josh Liendo, who put up a 43.80. ACC Champion Youssef Ramadan was second in 44.00.
In the 200 freestyle, Guy Brooks had the fastest time for the Cardinals, posting a 1:32.96. Murilo Sartori went 1:33.06 and Michael Eastman posted a 1:35.24. The top qualifier was Texas Longhorn Luke Hobson's 1:30.78.
In the 100 back, Dalton Lowe went 45.80, dropping .30 from his entry time to finish 22nd. Destin Lasco of Cal had the fastest prelim time of 43.93.
