Cards Host Conference Foes No. 25 Wake Forest and No. 8 NC State

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville's women's tennis team hosts two matches this weekend against Atlantic Coast Conference foes No. 25 Wake Forest on Friday at 4 p.m. ET and No. 8 NC State on Sunday at noon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

The Cardinals (8-8, 0-6) lost to two ranked opponents this weekend, falling to No. 55 Virginia Tech 5-2 on Friday and No. 11 Virginia 6-1 on Sunday. The Cards earned the doubles point against VT with a 6-2 victory from Jamilah Snells and Cici Xin at No. 3 doubles and a 7-6 win from Andrea Di Palma and Rhea Verma at No. 1 doubles. Against Virginia Tech, Tyra Richardson notched the only Cardinal win in singles with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 victory. Di Palma picked up the Cardinals lone win against Virginia with a 6-2, 7-5 win over No. 44 Julia Adams. Although Tyra Richardson, Rhea Verma and Maria Campos all forced a third set, the Cavaliers won the remaining matches to win 6-1.

Wake Forest (11-7, 2-3) fell in their first road conference matches, losing 5-2 to No. 48 Florida State and 7-0 to No. 18 Miami. Against FSU, Wake Forest earned the doubles point in a tough contest winning 7-6 (6) at No. 1 doubles and 7-5 at No. 3 doubles. No. 38 Casie Wooten picked up a three set comeback victory at No. 1 singles, winning 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. Whitley Pate put up a strong fight at No. 5 singles, pushing each set to a tiebreak before falling to Florida State in the third. Wake Forest struggled against Miami getting swept in doubles and singles.

NC State (12-2, 4-1) picked up a non-conference win with a near sweep to finish 6-1 over No. 26 UCF. NC State took the doubles point winning 6-4 on court one and 6-1 on court three. Three singles' wins came in a three set victory. At No. 3 singles, No. 18 Amelia Rajecki defeated Stefani Webb 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. No. 55 Abigail Rencheli won a three set thriller, picking up the 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3) victory. Nell Miller won 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 on court six.
