BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The University of Louisville women's tennis team won the doubles point but could not carry that momentum into singles as the Cardinals fell 5-2 to No. 55 Virginia Tech Friday afternoon in Blacksburg.

The No. 3 doubles pair of Jamilah Snells and Cici Xin downed VT's Charlotte Cartledge and Dariya Rudulova 6-2. The Cardinals clinched the point with the No. 1 court Cardinal combo of Andrea Di Palma and Rhea Verma downed Katie Andreini and Semra Aksu 7-6.

Tyra Richardson notched the only Cardinal win in singles with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Semra Aksu 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.

The Cardinals head next to Virginia to play the Wahoos on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
