Louisville Travels to No. 55 Virginia Tech and No. 11 Virginia

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville's women's tennis team travels to Virginia to compete in two matches this weekend against No. 55 Virginia Tech on Friday at 4 p.m. ET and No. 11 Virginia on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

The Cardinals (8-6, 0-4) won their lone match this weekend with a 7-0 sweep over non-conference foe Xavier. UofL took the doubles point as Rhea Verma and Andre DiPalma won 6-1 at No. 1 doubles and Cici Xin and Jamilah Snells won 6-0 at No. 3 doubles. Taking the 1-0 lead into singles, the Cards quickly earned another point as Verma won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Maria Campos quickly followed suit, taking the 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles. At No. 1 sinlges, DiPalma clinched the match for the Cards winning 6-3, 6-1. Snells, Tyra Richardson, and Sasha Gorchanyuk all won their matches in two sets.

Virginia Tech (9-5, 0-4) earned their ninth win of the season defeating UNCW on Saturday. The Hokies cruised through doubles play earning a pair of 6-0 victories behind the duo of Katie Andreini and Semra Aksu and the pair of Özlem Uslu and Tamara Barad Itzhaki. Virginia Tech swept singles, winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles. Uslu added another point for the Hokies, winning 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and Dariya Radulova won 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2 singles. On courts four and six, the match came down to a pro set tiebreaker, where the Hokies came out victorious. Aksu won on court four 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 and Charlotte Cartledge won on court six 7-5, 2-6, 10-6.

Virginia (10-3, 3-1) is on a four game win streak after beating No. 29 UCF 4-1 on Friday. Virginia won the doubles point and picked up two straight-set victories. The No. 1 doubles pair of Melodie Collard and Julia Adams won 6-4 and the No. 2 doubles pair of Elaine Chervinsky and Natasha Subhash won 7-6 (7-5). Sara Ziodato gave UVA a 2-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles. Hibah Shaikh won another point with a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles. On court one, Adams rebounded from dropping her first set 6-1 with a 6-4 win in the second and a 6-2 win to clinch the match for the Cavaliers.
