LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville won the doubles points and outlasted Memphis through four three-set matches to win 5-2 Sunday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
Cici Xin and Jamilah Snells beat Monique Woog and Camita Soares 6-4 at No. 2 in early doubles action. Memphis pushed back as Dolavee Tumthong and Miriam Grosmann defeated Sasha Gorchanyuk and Maria Campos 6-4 at the No. 3 slot. The No. 1 doubles pair of Andrea Di Palma and and Rhea Verma clinched the point with a 7-5 win over Aran Teixido and Emily Meyer.Â
The Cards took the 1-0 lead into singles and Maria Campos scored the first singles win at No. 6 with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 win over Dolavee Tumthong. Memphis' Camila Soares scored the first point for the Tigers with a 6-4, 6-4 win. Rhea Verma scored for the Cards to go up 3-1 with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Emily Meyer at No. 3. Tyra Richardson clinched the match with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 win over Micah Pierce. Cici Xin beat Monique Woog 6-3, 6-7 (4), 10-8 at No. 4 to complete the Cardinals scoring.Â
