Cardinals Set to Host Austin Peay and No. 52 Memphis

Louisville continues its non-conference play
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team welcomes Austin Peay and No. 52 Memphis to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center this weekend.

Louisville will play Austin Peay on Friday at 4:00 p.m. ET and Memphis on Sunday at noon. Admission is free for both matches.

The Cardinals (5-2) are coming off a two-game win streak. UofL won their lone match last weekend against long-time Cincinnati 5-2. The Cards won the doubles point as Cici Xin and Jamilah Snells combined to win 6-0 at the No. 2 position. Sasha Gorchanyuk and Maria Campos followed suit winning 6-1 at the No. 3 spot to clinch the point. The Cards were able to pick up the other four points in singles winning at No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, and No. 5. Snells won in quick sets 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 2 position. Playing at the No. 5 spot, Tyra Richardson had a comeback win with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 and No. 1 Andrea Di Palma clinched the match with a 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 win. Rhea Verma scored the final point with a 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 gritty win at No. 3.

Austin Peay (3-2) split their matches this weekend with a close 4-3 loss to Murray State and a dominate 6-1 win over Southeast Missouri. The Governors claimed the doubles point in both contests and won all three doubles matches against Southeast Missouri. Jana Leder and Sophia Baranov won both of their singles matches over the weekend and were the only two to pick up a singles point in the loss to Murray State. Melody Hefti, Yu-Hua Cheng, and Lucy Lascheck earned their singles point against Southeast Missouri. Cheng won in comeback fashion with scores of 3-6, 6-2, 10-6.

Memphis (1-7) has played seven straight ranked opponents to start the season. The Tigers fell 5-2 on the road against No. 34 Arkansas. After dropping the doubles point, Memphis picked up wins at the No. 2 and No. 4 position. Camila Soares defeated Indianna Spink 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 in a gritty win at No. 2. Emily Meyer, playing at No. 4, won a tough match against Lenka Stara 7-5, 7-5.
