
Cards Send 18 to SMU Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- University of Louisville swimming and diving team is sending its most versatile swimmers to the 2023-24 SMU Classic held at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium Friday, October 6 and Saturday, October 7.
Friday's action is slated to begin at 7 p.m. (ET), while Saturday's competition is set for 11 a.m. Â (ET). The meet can be seen on PonyUp TV and live results will be available on SMUMustangs.com, DiveMeets and on the Meet Mobile App.
The 2023 edition of the Classic features five teams that finished in the top 25 at the NCAA Championships. Â Â The women, who finished fourth at NCAAs last year, will face Auburn, Miami, Missouri, and USC. Last year at NCAAs, Auburn women placed 30th, Miami was 22nd, and USC was 12th. Â
The Louisville men will take on Auburn, Missouri, USC, Texas. Last year Auburn was tenth at NCAAs, Missouri was 16th, USC was 22nd, and Texas was third.

Event Format
The event features each team bringing eight swimmers and one diver from each competing institution. Each swimmer may compete in three events per day, and events will be contested in two heats, with one swimmer from each school in each heat. Divers will compete on 1- and 3-meter. Scoring will be as follows: Individual: 16-13-12-11-10-9-7-5-4-3-2-1 Â and Relays: 24-20-18-16-14-12
Cardinal Women
UofL is sending Gabi Albiero, Madie Hall, Kim Herkle, Paige Hetrick, Christiana Regenauer, Rye Ulett, Tristen Ulett, Ella Welch and diver Else Praasterink.

 Cardinal Men
The Cardinal men will be Tommy Bried, Dalton Lowe, Mateo Miceli, Jackson Millard, Denis Petrashov, Gustavo Saldo, Matias Santiso, Murilo Sartori and diver Rayce Winn.

Last year's SMU Classic
USC won the women's Classic with a total of 325 points. Michigan was second with 311 followed by
Louisville (304), Missouri (255), Miami (223), and SMU with 203. The Texas men won the Classic with a score of 348 followed by Texas A&M (306), Missouri (298), Michigan (280), Louisville (220) and SMU (196).
