
Herkle and Praasterink Earn ACC Weekly Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- University of Louisville diver Else Praasterink has been named ACC Diver of the Week and Cardinal swimmer Kim Herkle has been voted ACC Swimmer of the Week as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference office Tuesday afternoon.
Praasterink, of Eindhoven, Netherlands, posted the top scores on both boards at last week's meet with Xavier. The All-American had the top mark in the 1M with a 292.73 and the 3M with a 289.65. Her scores qualify her for the NCAA Zone Meet which is the meet to decide NCAA participants in diving.
Herkle, a native of Stuttgart, Germany helped her team to the 189-69 win over Xavier in the season opener. The meet was the first regular season meet for Herkle in a year, as she missed all of last year's. Against the Musketeers, Kim swept the breaststroke events with a 1:02.22 in the 100 breast and a time of 2:13.24 in the 200 breaststroke. She also won the 200 IM with a time of 2:02.91 and was a part of the winning 200 Medley Relay squad that combined for a 2:13.24. Her time in the 200 breast is ranked second in the nation and a B-cut; her 100 breaststroke time is ranked No. 5 in the nation and her time in the 200 IM is ninth in the nation. The 200 Medley Relay time is No. 7 in the nation.Â
