The women’s team placed 11th while the men took 18th as a team.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The University of Louisville cross country teams capped off their regular season on Friday morning at the Arturo Barrios Invitational in College Station, Texas.
Among the talented field of 41 teams at the Watts Cross Country Course, the women's team posted an 11th-place finish while moving up to the 6K distance for the first time this season.
Rylee Penn crossed the line first for the Cardinals, placing 30th overall while recording a new personal-best time of 20:20.2. The transfer from Cincinnati's time was good for the 10th-fastest in school history after she posted the 15th-best 5K time for a Cardinal two weeks ago at the Live in Lou Classic.
Lexie Paszkiewicz continued her string of early-season breakout performances, running the 6K in 20:41.2 to place 52nd and finishing over two minutes quicker than her previous best at the distance.
Layla Roebke followed close behind in 20:42.9 to finish in 56th place, and a pair of freshmen rounded out the Louisville scorers for the second consecutive meet, as Maddie Seaby placed 64th in 20:51.5 and Temi Ariyo took 78th place in 20:57.8.
On the men's side, the Cardinals placed 18th out of 39 teams with the top five scorers separated by only 20 seconds.
Innocent Ntwali led the way in his second collegiate meet, crossing the line in 67th place with a time of 24:26.0 to trim over 30 seconds off his debut 8K time from two weeks ago.
The next three Louisville men all ran lifetime bests as well while running in a pack throughout much of the race.
Forest MacKenzie ran 24:30.7 to place 78th while Jack Moore took nearly two minutes off his time from the Live in Lou Classic earlier this season to claim 88th place in 24:32.9.
Jack Stansell clocked a time of 24:36.4 on his way to a 98th-place finish and Ethan Meyer was the fifth man through in 117th place with a time of 24:46.6.
