Louisville outscored the Boilermakers 18-6 on Sunday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville baseball program picked up a 18-6 victory over Purdue in the fall exhibition game Sunday at Jim Patterson Stadium.
The win wraps up the fall exhibition season for the Cardinals, who also downed Miami (Ohio) last weekend.
The Cards had the long ball working on Sunday, launching eight balls over the wall. Tyeler Hawkins led the charge offensively, going 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs and three RBIs. Eddie King Jr. added a 3-for-4 showing, coming up just a triple shy of the cycle, including a long home run to right-centerfield.
Brantley Bamberg, Tucker Biven, Isaac Humphrey, Blane Schmitt and Will Vierling all left the yard on Sunday as well. Half of Louisville's 22 hits on the day went for extra bases.
Kade Grundy allowed one run across three innings on the mound, while Tate Kuehner worked a pair of scoreless innings. Evan Webster, Will Koger, Garrett Schmeltz and Kaleb Corbett each struck out three during their outings.
Louisville's fall will continue with the annual Pizza Bowl series, which is slated to begin in the first week of October.
