Nick Albiero Named Academic All-American of The Year

Albiero is a 28-time All-American and two-time NCAA Champion
AUSTIN, Texas – University of Louisville Swimming standout both athletically and academically, Nick Albiero highlights the 2022 Academic All-America® Division I men's at-large teams selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). In addition, Albiero has been named the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I Men's At-Large Team Athlete of the Year
Albiero, who was also the Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year in 2021, was named ACC Men's Swimmer of the Year for the second consecutive year after winning the 200 butterfly at the ACC Championships for an ACC-record fifth consecutive year. He earned seven All-America honors this season, finishing third in the 200 butterfly, sixth in the 100 butterfly, and sixth in the 100 backstroke. He was also a member of the 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, 800 freestyle relay, and 400 freestyle which all earned All-America honors. In his career at Louisville, Albiero earned 28 All-American accolades, including 12 individual All-American honors. Albiero, a graduate student who hails from Louisville, Ky., has a 3.77 GPA in business administration.
Twenty members of the Academic All-America® Division I men's at-large teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 15 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.93.
Twelve student-athletes including Albiero are repeat selections on the Academic All-America® Division I men's at-large team – Myles Amine (University of Michigan), Ford Clegg (Mississippi State University), Axel Geller (Stanford University), Mason Kauffman (Northern Illinois University), Eric Knowles (North Carolina State University), Derek Maas (University of Alabama), Nicholas Perera (University of Alabama), Shane Griffith (Stanford University), Ben Bramley (Purdue University), Zach Hartman (Bucknell University) and Nick Lee (Pennsylvania State University).
