Cards in Seventh Place After the First Round of Regional Action

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's golf team opened regional play by placing seventh after the first round of the 2022 NCAA Albuquerque Regional at the UNM Championship Course on Monday.
The Cardinals carded a 7-over-par 295 to finish the first round 11 shots behind Oregon, the current leader at 4-under-par. Texas is second at 1-under-par and Florida is third at even par. TCU and Georgia are three shots ahead of the Cardinals for fourth place – the spot needed to advance to the NCAA Championships.
Lauren Thibodeau shot an even-par 72 to sit in a tie for 13th place after her first round of play. The senior birdied four holes during her round, including the first and fourth on the front, and the 11th and the 14th on the back. Thibodeau missed shooting under par by notching a double bogey on No. 17.
Kendall Griffin and Carmen Griffiths are tied for 21st after each firing a 2-over-par 74, and Mairead Martin is tied for 34th after her 3-over-par 75. Gabbi Bentancourt rounded out the top five by shooting a 7-over-par 79.
The Cards will tee off at 10 a.m MT on Tuesday morning, pairing with North Texas and Oklahoma.
