Cards Drop Series Finale at No. 20/21 Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Louisville softball team fell 9-1 to No. 20/21 Notre Dame in it season finale Sunday at Melissa Cook Stadium.

Louisville (27-24, 10-14 ACC) will travel to Pittsburgh for the ACC Softball Championship which will start on Wednesday. The full bracket will be released Sunday evening.

The Cardinals jumped to an early lead with a run in the first inning. Korbe Otis earned a one-out walk and Taylor Roby followed with a single to put two runners on for Dylann Cravens whose two-out single plated Otis.

Notre Dame (39-9, 16-5 ACC) answered in the home half of the second, using five hits to score six runs and take a 6-1 lead. The Fighting Irish offense continued with an unearned run in the third and two more in the sixth to extend their lead to 9-1.

Taylor Roby (15-10) took the loss, giving up six earned runs on five hits in 1 2/3 innings. Taja Felder allowed three runs, one earned, on four hits with one strikeout in four innings of relief. Carmyn Greenwood, Roby and Cravens each registered a hit for the Cardinals.

Shannon Becker (10-3) picked up the win, surrendering one earned run on four hits and striking out seven in six innings.
