Louisville Wraps Up Regular Season at No. 20/21 Notre Dame

CARDINAL NOTES
• The Cards bring a 27-21 overall record into the game following a 12-3 midweek win at UIC. Last weekend, Louisville took two of three games against Virginia at Ulmer Stadium. UofL also carries an 10-11 mark in ACC play and is currently seventh in league standings.
• Louisville is led offensively by current ACC Softball Player of the Week, graduate senior Carmyn Greenwood who is hitting at a .417 clip and is tied for first in the ACC with 68 hits. She also paces the league with 54 runs, is second with 52 RBIs.
• With her home run in Wednesay's game at UIC, Taylor Roby now has a career-high 15 on the season and 40 in her career. She needs two more to tie the school single season and career records, both held by Courtney Moore (2004-07).
• After scoring two runs against UIC, Carmyn Greenwood extends her career-best season total to 54. She stands fourth on Louisville's single season list.
• Entering the week, Greenwood stands second in the NCAA in triples with seven and fourth in total bases. She is also ranked in the top 20 in hits, doubles, slugging percentage, runs per game and RBIs.
• Roby has shouldered the bulk of the pitching duties and holds a 3.25 ERA with 107 strikeouts in 157.1 innings of work.
• Louisville leads the ACC and stands 16th in the nation with 23 double plays turned.
• The Cardinals starting lineup frequently features four freshmen.
• Louisville was picked to finish sixth in the ACC in a preseason vote by the league's head coaches.
• Carmyn Greenwood was selected to the Preseason All-ACC Softball team.
THE APRILE ERA
• Holly Aprile is in her fourth season as UofL's head coach. With the 2020 campaign suspended prior to its midway point due to the outbreak of COVID-19, Aprile has compiled a 93-84-1 record and guided the Cardinals to an NCAA regional final appearance in 2019.
• Prior to her arrival at Louisville, Aprile, the 2018 ACC Coach of the Year spent 10 seasons (2009-18) as Pittsburgh's head coach and five years (2004-08) as an assistant. In 2018, she earned ACC Coach of the Year honors after leading the Panthers to the 2018 ACC Coastal Division title and a runner-up finish in the ACC tournament.

NOTRE DAME
Series Record: Notre Dame leads 23-17
Last Meeting: March 23-24, 2019. Notre Dametook two of three games in South Bend, sweeping a doubleheader by scores of 9-1 in each game. Louisville won 5-3 in the series finale.
Scouting the Fighting Irish: Notre Dame brings a five-game win streak and a 36-9 overall record into the final weekend of the regular season following an 8-0 win over Toledo on April 26.
• The Fighting Irish are fourth in the ACC standings with a 13-5 league record. Last weekend, Notre Dame swept North Carolina in a three-game series.
• Karina Gaskins leads the way with a .442 batting average, 11 home runs and 55 RBIs. Abby Sweet has scored 49 runs with a team-best 19 stolen bases.
• Payton Tidde (14-4) carries a 2.58 ERA with 93 strikeouts in 119.1 innings of work.
