Cardinals Top Central Michigan on Day Two of Bluegrass Challenge

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville softball team defeated Central Michigan 9-1 on day two of the Bluegrass Challenge Friday at Ulmer Stadium. In Friday's final game, the Cardinals and the Bobcats played through two scoreless innings before the game was called in the top of the third due to snowy conditions.

The Cardinals (14-8) will wrap up the weekend on Sunday at 11 a.m. when they play host to Indiana.

Freshman Korbe Otis went 3-for-3, with a double and a triple – a home run shy of hitting for the cycle and produced a career-high five RBIs to lead Louisville at the plate. Graduate senior Carmyn Greenwood was 3-for-4 with two doubles and scored two runs.

Redshirt senior Taylor Roby (5-3) picked up the win in the circle giving up one hit and striking out two in 3.0 innings. Freshman Sam Booe surrendered one earned run on one hit and fanned two in 2.0 innings.

Louisville used five hits, including Kendall Smith's two-run double, an RBI triple by Otis and freshman Ally Alexander's RBI single to take a 4-0 lead in the first inning.

The Cardinals capitalized on three walks and three hits to plate three more runs in the second. A two-run double by Otis extended Louisville's lead to 9-0 in the third.

The Chippewas (9-9) got on the scoreboard in the fourth behind Caitlyn Britton's RBI double.

Booe and the Cardinals' defense retired the last four batters to end the game.

Grace Lehto (4-5) took the loss after giving up four earned runs on five hits in 0.1 innings. Britton and Sammi Mills each had a hit for the Chippewas.
