FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The University of Louisville women's golf team concluded its first round of the Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club (North Course) in Franklin, Tenn., Friday, recording a 4-over-par 292 to find eighth place through 18 holes.
Fifteen teams are competing this weekend, including five teams ranked in the Women's Golf Coaches Association Top 25. Those 15 teams are No. 14 Alabama, No. 17 Auburn, Chattanooga, Clemson, No. 10 Florida, Kentucky, No. 11 Georgia, Louisville, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Northwestern, No. 22 Oregon, Ohio State, host Vanderbilt and Washington.
Oregon is in the lead at 12-under-par 276, while host Vanderbilt follows in second place at 6-under-par 282. Clemson trails Alabama by just one shot at 2-under-par 286.
Kendall Griffin, playing in the No. 2 spot, was the lone Cardinal under-par, shooting a 1-under-par 71 to close the first round in a tie for 13th place and sit six shots off the lead.
Carmen Griffiths and Lauren Thibodeau each carded a 1-over-par 73 to close their first rounds in a tie for 31st place, while Mairead Martin shot a 3-over-par 75 to her round in a tie for 46th. Hana Ryskova rounded out the top five with shooting a 4-over-par 76 to finish in a tie for 50th.
The Cardinals will tee off in the second round Saturday at 9:30 a.m. ET on No. 1, paired with Kentucky and Ohio State.
