Louisville Records 3-0 Shutout Win over Northern Kentucky

Gabby Kouzelos recorded her first shutout of the season and eclipsed 200 saves, while Hayley Howard, Delaney Snyder and Emma Hiscock recorded goals for the Cardinals.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville women's soccer controlled throughout and defeated Northern Kentucky 3-0 on Sunday night at Lynn Stadium.

With the victory, Louisville improves to 3-0 on the season while NKU falls to 1-3.

"I think this team is pretty special. I think we still have a lot growth to do and a lot of things to learn," said goalkeeper Gabby Kouzelos. "We're definitely going to build our confidence with these three wins and we're very pleased."

The Cardinals got on the board in the 17th minute when Hayley Howard headed Abigail Baldridge's free kick into the net from right inside the box for her first career goal.

Louisville extended the lead to 2-0 in the 29th minute when Delaney Snyder danced her way past several NKU defenders into the final third and drilled a right-footed goal into the left side of the net.

Emma Hiscock made it 3-0 in the 73rd minute when she controlled the ball just outside the box and sent a left-footed laser just beyond the outstretched arms of the NKU goalkeeper into the top right corner of the net.

Hiscock has three goals on the season and is the lone Cardinal to score in all three matches.

The Cardinals finished with 18 shots with eight on goal and limited the Norse to just five shots, two of which were on goal.

Gabby Kouzelos finished with two saves and became the fifth UofL player to eclipse 200 for her career, while recording her first shutout of the season.
"It's pretty awesome. I've been here for a long time and it's nice to be able get 200 saves for this team and help us get wins," added Kouzelos.

Louisville travels to Saint Louis on Thursday night for its first road contest of the season.
