No 13 Cardinals Sweep TAMU-Corpus Christi

Cards move to 2-0 on season
TEMPE, Ariz. -- Outside hitter Anna DeBeer had nine kills, hit .467 and added a block to lead the No. 13-ranked University of Louisville to a 25-10, 25-17, 25-16 win over Texas A&M Corpus Christi in the second match of the day Friday evening at the Sun Devil Invitational in Tempe.

UofL hit a torrid .433 with seven aces and 11 blocks. The Cardinals were led  Aiko Jones' eight kills, three aces and four blocks. Amaya Tillman had six blocks and seven kills with no errors to hit .700.
The Islanders hit .040 as a team with no aces and seven service errors. They had five blocks and 17 digs and drop to 0-2 on the season.

UofL will play host Arizona State Saturday at 7 p.m. ET.

Set-by-set Breakdown
Set 1
UofL popped out to an 11-3 lead early in the first set and spread the lead to 15-4 which sparked a TAMU-CC time out. The Cards continued to overpower the Islanders with .417 hitting and strong serving, evidenced by five aces in the first set alone. Aiko Jones led the Cards on a 8 point streak in the set for the 25-10 win.  Tori Dilfer had 26 assists and one ace. UofL pops out to a 2-0 record.
Set 2
The momentum stayed with Louisville going into the second stanze. UofL popped out to a 5-1 lead and TAMU-CC wasted no time calling timeout. The Islanders managed to cut the lead to two points on a Cardinal service error but UofL reasserted itself with three straight points served up by Jones to take the spread to 17-12. TAMU-CC used its last timeout, trailing 21-15 but could not turn the tide. UofL got to set point on two straight Islander errors and then a kill by Jones tipped the set to UofL 25-17.

Uof used five straight service points from Emily Scott to give UofL a 16-8 lead. A kill by Amaya Tillman to UofL to a 23-13 lead. The Cards got to match point on a service error to go up 24-15 and another service error by the Islanders gave UofL the 25-16 set and match win.
