
Hernandez and Salle Named to ACC All-Academic Tennis Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Louisville's Sergio Hernandez and Fabien Salle have earned All-ACC Academic Men's Tennis Team honors as announced by the league office today.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
This marks the second All-ACC Academic Team honor for Salle, who earned his bachelor's degree in Finance in May 2021. He is a three time Athletic Director's Honor Roll selection and was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll in 2020. Additionally, he was named to the Dean's List twice.
Salle collected 2021 All-ACC second team honors after leading the team in singles with a 13-2 overall record and a 7-0 mark against conference opponents playing mostly at No. 2. He was named ACC Player of the Week on March 3 and was the ITA UTR Player of the Week on March 19. The Geneva, Switzerland native appeared in the ITA singles rankings five times, reaching as high as No. 57.
Salle also amassed a 10-5 doubles record with Matthew Fung – the duo spent seven weeks in the ITA doubles rankings, reaching as high as No. 45. The pair was named ACC Doubles Team of the Week on March 19. Salle also earned all-ACC third team honors in 2019.
Hernandez takes home his first career All-ACC Academic Team honor. The sport administration major was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll in 2020 and is a four-time Athletic Director's Honor Roll selection. He also earned Dean's List honors in 2021.
Hernandez turned in solid 2021 campaign, earning All-ACC third team honors. The Medellin, Colombia native finished his junior season with a 12-5 overall singles record and was 5-4 in ACC play, primarily at the team's three spot. He spent seven weeks in the ITA singles rankings, reaching as high as No. 56. Hernandez went 10-5 in doubles, playing mostly at No. 2. He teamed with Tin Chen to appear at No. 89 in the national doubles rankings.
