Salle Tabbed ITA UTR National Player of the Week

The University of Louisville's Fabien Salle was named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association UTR Division I National Player of the Week as announced by the ITA on Wednesday.
The ITA UTR Player of the Week honors a collegiate tennis player whose increase in UTR rating throughout the previous week was indicative of his/her high level of performance, including notable wins such as clinching matches and upsets.
Salle won all of his matches in both singles and doubles last weekend as the Cardinals closed out the regular season with a pair of ranked opponents.
The junior from Geneva, Switzerland made his debut in the singles rankings this week, appearing at No. 57. Against No. 29 Virginia Tech, Salle defeated No. 78 Matthis Ross 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 2 spot. He also notched Louisville's lone point in a 4-1 loss to No. 5 Virginia with his 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win against Chris Rodesch.
Salle has now won four straight singles matches, three of them against ranked opponents. He has compiled a 12-2 overall record in singles, playing mostly at No. 2 and is 6-0 against ACC opponents.
The No. 63-ranked duo of Salle and Fung beat the No. 25-ranked pair of Ryan Fishback and Jordan Chrysostom 6-3 at No. 1 to help the Cardinals take the doubles point in a 4-3 loss to No. 29 Virginia Tech. Salle and Fung also registered a 6-2 win against Virginia's Jeffrey von der Schulenburgh and Iñaki Montes de la Torre.
