The University of Louisville men's tennis team has landed two singles players and a pair of doubles teams in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings released on April 14. Additionally, the Cardinals stand at No. 50 in the team computer rankings.
Representing the Cardinals in the singles rankings are juniors Fabien Salle at No. 57 and Sergio Hernandez at No. 71. Salle (Geneva, Switzerland) earns his first ITA ranking in singles after compiling 10-2 overall record, playing mostly at No. 2. Most recently, he defeated a pair of ranked players in Clemson's No. 103 Carlos Kelaidis and Georgia Tech's No. 24 Andres Martin – both in straight sets.
Hernandez is in his third straight week in the ITA singles rankings and has reached as high as No. 56 in the March 30 edition. The Medellin, Colombia native carries an 11-4 record in singles, mostly at the No. 3 spot.
Both Salle and Hernandez also appear in the doubles rankings this week. Salle teams with sophomore Matthew Fung to stand at No. 63, marking the duo's third straight week in the rankings while holding an overall record of 9-8 playing mostly as Louisville's top-seeded team.
Hernandez and teammate Tin Chen have tallied an 8-4 primarily at No. 2 spot and stand at No. 89 in the 2021 ranking debut.
The Cardinals (9-9) will wrap up the regular season at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center this weekend, playing host to No. 29 Virginia Tech on Friday at 1:30 p.m. and No. 5 Virginia on Sunday at 1 p.m.
