
Cards Stumble at Georgia Tech

ATLANTA – The University of Louisville softball team lost 12-2 to host Georgia Tech in the series finale on Sunday.

Louisville (15-17, 9-12 ACC) will return to action next weekend when the Cards play host to No. 16/20 Duke in a four-game ACC series.

The Cardinals built a 2-0 lead in the third, but the Yellow Jackets used four home runs over the final three innings to win the game 12-2.

Louisville struck first when Carmyn Greenwood led off the game with a bunt single and Taylor Roby was hit by a pitch to put two on for Makayla Hurst's RBI single.

Taylor Roby launched a solo shot for her team-best 11th homer of the season to give Louisville a 2-0 lead in the third.

Georgia Tech (12-20, 6-16) answered with three of runs in the home half of the third when Cameron Stanford led off with a home run. Emma Kauf's base hit plated Tricia Awald and sacrifice flies by Bailee Zeitler and Jin Sileo gave the Yellow Jackets a 4-2 lead.

The fourth inning brought four more runs for Georgia Tech courtesy of Huckabay's RBI it and Kauf's three-run homer, pushing the Yellow Jackets' lead to 8-2.

A solo home run from Sileo and a three-run shot by Huckabay in the fifth brought the final score to 12-2.
Gabby Holloway (3-4) took the loss, allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits in a relief appearance. Carmyn Greenwood led the Cardinals offensively with a 2-for-3, one run performance at the plate.
Blake Neleman (6-5) picked up the win for Georgia Tech, allowing two earned runs on four hits and striking out two.
