No. 14 Cardinals Sweep Wolfpack to Move Atop ACC Standings

Anna Stevenson has 11 kills to pace the Cardinals' offense
Anna Stevenson had 11 kills, hit .529 and added six blocks to help the No.14- ranked University of Louisville beat NC State 3-0 in ACC volleyball action Sunday afternoon at the L&N Federal Credit Union Arena.

The 26-24, 25-22, 25-13 win vaulted the No. 14-ranked Cardinals to the top spot in the ACC and moved Louisville's record to 12-2. The Cards hit .287 as a team with 12 blocks and managed to survive 14 service errors. Claire Chaussee came off the bench to spark the Cards with six kills and three blocks. Anna DeBeer and Aiko Jones both had seven kills with Jones adding five blocks.

NC State drops to 8-9 with the loss. The Wolfpack hit .124 with six blocks. The NCSU offense was led by Jade Parchment's 12 kills, who also had a team-high eight digs. Kristen McDaniel had four kills and two blocks.
The Cards popped out to a 23-16 lead in the first set and then outlasted NC State's 7-0 run to tie the score at 23. After a Louisville timeout, the Cardinals hung on to win the set, 26-24.Â

NC State jumped out in the second stanza to an early 14-7 lead. Louisville withstood NC State's offensive rally and put together a 10-2 run of its own, taking back the lead at 17-16.  The Cardinals regrouped and went on to win the set 25-22.Â

 The Cardinals used .480 hitting in the final stanza to put the Wolfpack back on its heels, going up 9-3 early and never looked back, powering to the 25-13 win.

The Cardinals have two more matches slated for the regular season prior to the NCAA Pairings announcement for the postseason. Â UofL heads to Miami April 1 and then over to North Carolina to play April 2.
