December 22, 2021 | Women's Volleyball
Graduate setter led the Cardinals to their first-ever Final Four
University of Louisville setter and First Team All-American Tori Dilfer has been named as a finalist for the Honda Award for Volleyball.
Â
The Honda Sports Award is an annual award given to the best collegiate female athlete in each of twelve sports. There are four nominees for each sport, and the twelve winners of the Honda Sports Award are automatically in the running for the Honda-Broderick Cup award, as the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year. Winners are selected in each of the 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports by a panel of more than 1,000 NCAA administrators.
Â
Dilfer was named as UofL's first-ever AVCA First Team All-American. She was named MVP of the All-Louisville Regional team, to the AVCA First Team All-East Region. She was named the East Region Player of the Year and ACC Setter of the Year and to the All-ACC First Team. She led every match against top 25 opponents in assists. She was a US Collegiate National Team Member in 2021.  Ranked No. 24 in Asst/set (10.79); No. 76 Total Assts (1,165). Louisville's No. 4 ranked hitting percentage (.300) can be credited to her savvy setting. She had 14 matches where she had serving runs of more than 5 points including a season-high 9 straight against Clemson. She had 23 aces including 7 matches with 2 or more. She was named to All-Cardinal Invitational. Her setting percentage is .440 and she recorded at least 1 block in all but 5 matches with season high 4 vs. Pitt, UIC, Florida, Georgia Tech.  She was voted as Team Captain by her teammates.  Â
