LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville women's soccer head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes and her staff announced today that they have added Minnesota graduate transfer Patricia Ward to its 2022 class.
"We are thrilled to add Patricia to our incoming class," said head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes. "She is an excellent attacking player with high level collegiate experience. I'm excited to have the opportunity to coach her and I look forward to getting her on campus in January."
Ward, a native of Newport News, Va., spent the previous four seasons at Minnesota, where she played in 65 games, making 55 starts, with three goals and six assists.
As a freshman, she was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team after appearing in 23 games and starting 19 of them. She helped Minnesota finish with a 12-9-2 record, a Big Ten Tournament championship and the program's first ever road win in the NCAA Tournament, a 2-0 shutout victory over Auburn in the first round.
She finished with two goals and two assists as a freshman, recording her first collegiate goal by netting the game winner in the season opener versus Utah with 11 seconds remaining on Aug. 8, 2018.
Following her junior campaign, she was named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar award recipient after recording a perfect 4.0 GPA.
As a senior, she started 14 of 15 games and helped lead the Gophers to an 8-6-3 record. In the 4-1 win over Penn State, she finished with a goal and an assist. She also added an assist at Michigan State.
At Warwick High School, she was a four-year letter winner in both soccer and indoor track, and was a three-time all-conference selection in soccer.
