
Eli Shoyat Completes Competition at the FINA World Cup

Cardinal Freshman swims two events on final day in Berlin
BERLIN -- University of Louisville freshman swimmer Eli Shoyat has completed his final two events at the 2021 FINA World Cup at the Europasportpark Pool in Berlin, Germany.Â
Shoyat, who is from Ft. Mitchell's Beechwood High School, is on the US National Team.  A mid-distance and distance specialist out of Northern Kentucky Clippers Swimming, he also competed for Powel Crosley Jr YMCA.

Racing in short course meters, Shoyat finished 13th in the 400M IM with a time of 4:28.22. The event was won by South Africa's Matthew Sates, who turned in a 4:01.98.Â
Shoyat finished 46th in the 200M freestyle with a time of 1:52.49. Sates set a world junior record with his gold medal time of 1:40.65.Â
