August 10, 2020 | Men's Tennis
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville men's tennis coach Rodrigo da Silva has announced that Josh Howard Tripp will join the Cardinals after three seasons at the University of Arkansas.
"We are very excited to have Josh on the team," said da Silva. "He comes to Louisville with a ton of experience after playing three years in the SEC and he will add a lot to the team with his tennis and leadership."
The Johannesburg, South Africa native will join the Cardinals as a junior in eligibility in the fall of 2020. Howard-Tripp played for the Razorbacks from the fall of 2017 through the COVID-19-shortened 2020 spring campaign. During his time there, he compiled 37 singles wins, with 24 of those coming in dual matches while splitting time at Nos. 2, 3 and 4. In the 2017-18 season, he stood second on the team with 18 singles victories.
Prior to his arrival in Fayetteville, Howard-Tripp built an impressive junior resume, ranked among the top 80 juniors in the World. He won the Nambian Open as well as the Curro ITF and competed in the Junior Australian Open and the AGL Loy Yan Traralgon Junior International. Additionally, Howard-Tripp was a doubles finalist at the Prague Open.

"The coaches are creating a great program and place to train and grow as a person and player. The team is built with great guys and the university, being in the city, really gives me a home feeling and feels comfortable to me. It also helps that the campus is in a beautiful city and state."
