The Cardinals turned in a 3.455 team GPA during the spring semester.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville baseball program turned in another impressive showing in the classroom during the spring semester.
The Cardinals finished up the spring with a 3.455 cumulative team grade point average, marking the 18th consecutive semester Louisville baseball has finished with a 3.0 or higher.
Thirty-three student-athletes turned in a 3.0 GPA or better this spring, with 19 achieving at least a 3.5. Lucas Dunn, Justin Lavey and Carter Lohman each recorded perfect 4.0 semesters.
In the program's internal academic competition, Team Williams took home the title with a 3.59 GPA. The team consisted of Alex Binelas, Luke Brown, Shane Harris, Tate Kuehner, Jack Perkins, Garrett Schmeltz, Chris Seng, Evan Webster and Drew Wiegman.
The Louisville baseball program also had nine current and former student-athletes receive their degrees following the spring semester. Zach Britton, Adam Elliott, Michael Kirian, Justin Lavey, Danny Oriente and Luke Smith all completed their undergraduate degrees, as did former Cardinals Nick Bennett (2017-19) and Grant Kay (2014). Additionally, Mac Welsh (2014-18) received his master's degree.
The span of 18 straight semesters with a team GPA of 3.0 or better coincides with unparalleled success on the field for Louisville, which has four College World Series appearances, six NCAA Super Regional berths, eight NCAA Regional bids and seven conference championships during that time.
