Hartlage Named WGCA All-American Honorable Mention
April 21, 2020 | Women's Golf
She is the first to earn All-American honors by the coaches association since 2011
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - University of Louisville women's golfer Lauren Hartlage has been named an All-American Honorable Mention by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) as announced by the WGCA Tuesday afternoon.
Hartlage becomes just the third golfer in program history to earn All-American honors by the coaches association, and the first since Sara-Maude Juneau in 2010 and 2011. Cindy LaCrosse was the other player to earn to honor, being named a Second Team All-American in 2009. It's the third All-American honor for Hartlage, who was named a Golfweek Honorable Mention selection each of the last two seasons.
Despite a shortened season due to the worldwide pandemic, the Elizabethtown, Kentucky native, still had a record season. The senior set a new UofL single-season record with a 71.53 stroke average in 17 rounds. She is the first Louisville golfer to average below par for a season. Hartlage finished in the top-10 in four of the six tournaments in which UofL competed.
Hartlage's memorable season saw her begin the year by being named to the Golfweek Preseason All-American Second Team. She received an invitation to play at the second annual Augusta National Women's Amateur Championship, which was later canceled. In January, she won the Women's Orlando International Amateur by four strokes, where she led wire-to-wire at the three-day event, finishing with a 54-hole score of 6-under-par 210. Hartlage was invited by the USGA International Team Selection Committee to participate in a practice session for the 2020 Curtis Cup.
Hartlage tied her own program record by shooting a 7-under-par 65 during the final round of the Cardinal Cup in October. For the season, she recorded five rounds in the 60's and eight rounds of par or better. She finishes her season 46th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, 51st in the Golfstat NCAA Division I player rankings and 55th in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index. She also finished the year ranked ninth in the Arnold Palmer Cup rankings.
