Checking in with Juan Paredes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Throughout the remainder of the 2020 spring semester, we will check in with the players on the University of Louisville men's tennis teams as they complete their semesters online. Next up is sophomore Juan Paredes.
As the Cardinals 2020 season ended, Paredes had complied a 3-5 overall record in singles. In doubles, he and senior Clement Filho paired for a 2-2 record.

What do you do in your downtime?
I watch movies and play video games after I get all my homework done.
How are you communicating with teammates, coaches, etc.?
I Facetime or talk to them in our group chat.
Are you doing any sorts of workouts from home?
Yes, I do push-ups, abs, and core exercises in my room.
What is your favorite quote, saying or motto?
"If you can fight, fight."
Do you play an instrument, sing, speak multiple languages or have an unusual skill/hobby?
I play piano and produce music. I also speak fluent Spanish and English.
How do you think your friends would describe you?
Funny.
What is your favorite social media platform?
Instagram.
What words of support or encouragement would you send fellow student-athletes?
Stay tough and stay at home!
Who is your favorite athlete and why?
Rafael Nadal because of his fighting spirit, extra tough mentality and passion for the game. I also love his game style.
What are some of the top moments/favorite memories from your career so far?
Playing for my state back home (Colombia) and help them win the national title. It was the second time my state had done it and we are the only other state to win it.
If you could play any sport other than tennis, what would it be?
Soccer.
