Morris Helps Cardinals Cruise Past Niagara, 17-7

Hannah Morris led Louisville with four goals.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Eight different players scored, including hat tricks from Hannah Morris and Ally Hall, as Louisville women's lacrosse posted a 17-7 win over Niagara on Monday afternoon.

With the victory, the Cardinals improve to 5-4 and the Purple Eagles drop to 3-4.

"I loved our work ethic today. I thought from the opening draw, we showed the hustle, heart and grittiness of our team for 60 minutes," said head coach Scott Teeter. "That shows right on the draw. Anytime that you go 21-4 on the draws, that's 17 extra possessions that lead to offensive possessions."

Caroline Blalock opened the scoring two minutes in, but the Purple Eagles responded to tie the game at 1-1.

From there, the Cardinals scored four unanswered goals in less than three minutes.

Back-to-back goals from Morris gave her a hat trick as Louisville went into the break with a 7-4 lead. At the end of the first half, the Cardinals held an 11-1 advantage in draw controls and led Niagara 23-9 in shots.

Hall scored 14 seconds into the second half, followed by Morris' fourth goal of the day soon after. The Cardinals then went on an 8-2 run, including scoring six goals in a row, as they cruised to a 17-7 win.

Rachel Florek, who held Niagara without a goal for 20 minutes during the second half, concluded the game with seven saves.

The Cardinals dominated the draw control battle, 21-4, with seven from both Alex McNicholas and Paige Richbourg. Louisville also registered 52 shots compared to Niagara's 17, led by Blalock with a team-high 10.

The Cardinals travel to Delaware on Thursday to take on the Blue Hens at 2 p.m. at Tubby Raymond Field.
