
Louisville Plays at Delaware on Thursday

The Cardinals and the Blue Hens will begin play at 2 p.m. ET.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Following a 17-7 win over Niagara, University of Louisville women's lacrosse (5-4) plays at Delaware (2-3) on Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET.

"Delaware is a great team, they have a new coaching staff that we have to get ready for," said head coach Scott Teeter. "We have to take the positives from the Niagara game. I thought our defense played extremely well and we had a lot of success on the draw control, which led to even or transition opportunities. It's going to be another 60-minute battle."

Louisville set a program-record with 52 shots in the win over Niagara. The previous record was 51 shots in a 19-8 win over Vermont on Feb. 4, 2017. They limited Niagara to just 17 shots and are 4-0 when outshooting their opponent. They are 1-4 when being outshot.

Hannah Morris leads the Cardinals and ranks ninth in the ACC with 21 goals. She has at least one goal in eight of nine games and has a seven-game scoring streak, which leads the team. She has 13 goals in her last five games, which includes four-goal games against Longwood and Niagara.

Maddie Birch ranks third in the ACC with 1.56 caused turnovers per game, while Brenna Shanahan ranks eighth with 1.44 caused turnovers per game.

UofL is 5-0 against unranked teams and 0-4 against ranked teams.

Delaware enters Thursday's contest with a 2-3 record, 1-0 in Colonial Athletic Association play. They won their last game 12-11 over Elon in double-overtime.

She also ranks second in the league and ninth in the nation with 8.2 shots per game.

Junior Kate Brewster has started every game at goal this season, recording 51 saves with a .481 save percentage. Brewster ranks first in the league with 3.0 ground balls per game. She also ranks second with 10.2 saves per game and third with 51 saves and a .481 save percentage.
